4 ThoughtStormz Symposium - Berkan

Berkan dissented with some of what had been said before:
  • Tools are not media.
  • The "naive user/power user" distinction is not a good one.
  • Tools should be made to fit the user's life, not the other way around.
  • Goal-driven design is the way to approach the subject, and the needs of the user should be the starting point.
  • Problems such as the semantics of delete should be resolved by evaluating tools in terms of how they reduce cognitive uncertainty.
